Luke Case Xcess Blog

This week at Escalla I have completed unit 321 Testing ICT Systems. In the last 4 weeks since I have been in centre, I have have been working hard at Xcess Trading to complete a lot of different tasks to do mobile phones and rearranging the warehouse. As an apprentice I do also have to do the boring jobs like emptying the bins, recycling the cardboard, cleaning boxes, emptying the dishwasher, hoovering the main room and mopping the floors. This week at Escalla, along with completing unit 321, I have also gone over the last few units with Sid that I complete outside of Escalla (313, 308). We have also participated in pastoral work, to do with knife crime and we also had a discussion on the black hole as the first picture of one ever was released. We also discussed IT businesses, and the effect IT systems and how quickly they improve have on society (new, better smart phones, PC's, google stadia, etc). This week at Escalla I have completed unit 030 Customer support. In the last 4 weeks since I have been in center, I have been working hard at Xcess Trading to complete a lot of different tasks to do with computers and mobile phones. As an apprentice I do also have to do the boring jobs like emptying the bins, recycling the cardboard, cleaning boxes, emptying the dishwasher, hoovering the main room and mopping the floors. This week at Escalla I have also chosen my next few units to complete by my new end date in June. I can't wait to complete my apprenticeship at an earlier date now and move on to pastures new, possibly not at Xcess Trading due to the work that is expected of me conflicting with that I want to do as a career.

This week at Escalla, I have been working through units 368 & 391. While working through these, I have learned quite a lot of new information about how a virtual machine works and how a virtual server can be configured for a virtual PC. I have also been able to make a lot of notes which I knew were able to help me along. This is also useful for the future if i need to refresh my mind. The assignment was ultimately a brief and how to correctly configure a system for 12 users using a domain controller and a file server. Outside of Escalla, this week I have been travelling to and from Crewe via the train. In my spare time in the evenings and on the weekends, I have been playing video games with my friends and a colleague from the Escalla course/Work, walking my dog and watching the football.

This week I have visited Escalla for the first time, in Crewe. I have worked through unit 032, while learning quite a lot of new information about VPN's, Networks and Security. I have also made a lot of notes which will be really helpful later on in the future if I need to remind myself of the content. The whole assignment was based on a vulnerable computer network which a business had been using. I also gave them feedback, on how they could improve their network after identifying said risks. Outside of Escalla, this week I have been travelling to and from Crewe via the train. In my spare time in the evenings I have been playing video games with my friends and watching the football.
